On June 24, 2005, I took part in the first ever Santa Cruz Midnight Mystery Ride. Somebody put a call out:
Amigos de Cuba (Friends of Cuba), Santa Cruz County, USA spoke with many people about the "Cuban Five" and the US embargo on Cuba.
On June 12, 2005, a group of local high school students known as DANCES WITH KITTENS organized a rally in front of Urban Outfitters on Pacific Ave. to call attention to the corporation's extreme right agenda.
On June 2, 2005, Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping, a world famous choir of anti-corporate-consumer-craze, made a special appearance at the Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In. Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping performed songs and skits under the Soquel Bridge prior to a screening of "Night of the Iguana."
Supporters and members of WAMM rallied to denounce the Supreme Court decision banning the use of cannabis to relive pain and suffering.

Caldo de Cultivo Urbano is a grassroots artistic collaboration comprised of three women. The collective was formed in 2001 at UNAM in Mexico City.
On May 15, 2005, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) organized an anti-war informational walk down Pacific Ave in Santa Cruz. WILPF and supporters gathered at the Town Clock and walked down both sides of the Pacific Avenue sidewalks while handing out leaflets about The Cost of War.
The owner is worried that if Sunshine Villa is unionized, then many other assisted living facilities he owns in seven other states will unionize as well.
