On February 20, 2006, about a dozen people held a vigil at the town clock in Santa Cruz to protest the state-sponsored premeditated murder of Michael Morales. Stanley "Tookie" Williams and Clarence Ray Allen were also killed at San Quentin by the death penalty in the last three months.
